Hermès has announced its collaboration with Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto for a limited edition scarf collection. The partnership is in honor of the Hermès Editeur project’s third edition, which combines fine arts and crafts with the realm of textiles.

Sugimoto and Pierre-Alexis Dumas, creative director of Hermès, chose 20 artist’s Polaroids that depict color gradations for print by ink-jet on silk twill to create these limited edition silk scarves. This project is inspired by Sugimotos’ “Colors of Shadow”, and will be small-scale – only seven of each design will be produced.

Hiroshi Sugimoto and Hermès’ scarf collaboration will be present at the Art Basel contemporary art fair in June 2012.
