Gordon Biersch Brewery To Close San Francisco Location Next Month

It’s been a established fixture on the Embarcadero for decades, but when the lease for Gordon Biersch Brewery in the former Hills Brothers Coffee building is up April 28, so is the brewery’s existence at the iconic location.

Gordon Biersch Brewery sources cite the inability to reach an agreement for the new lease as the reason finding a new place of business. The 10,000-sqaure foot waterfront location opened in 1992 in the shadows of the Bay Bridge. At the time, it was only the third location of the restaurant, founded by Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch. Now, 20 years later, there are 34 Gordon Biersch restaurants in existence. It claims to be “the largest brewery restaurant-bottling brand in the world.”
