In London during the Olympics, hotel prices could triple because of the expected flood of competitors, officials and spectators. During the games, the approximate cost of a hotel stay at a London hotel room will be £ 213 a night. According to hotels.com, it is 102 percent up from the year before on the same period.

David Roche, the president of hotels.com warned that many hoteliers are using a slowing tactic while releasing rooms as the event begins in order to test run the possibility of how many people would pay, but this may not be a clever tactic, based on last year’s Royal Wedding. It seems that the outcome was lower than expected, with less occupancy.

Luckily, there are other alternatives for those who may not be interested in paying such expensive hotel prices. In fact, guests may be looking forward to camping during the Olympic Games. Based on last year’s World Travel Market Trend Report, many Londoners are predicted to use websites to rent out their garden space, for instance, campinmygarden.com.
