Eric Clapton Spends $4.7 Million on Customized Ferrari

Haute Auto, News | March 29, 2012

A while back, Eric Clapton crashed his 1970’s 512BB Ferrari, but being a rock star, Clapton recently upgraded that old Italian automobile with a customized Ferrari 458 Italia in homage to his long lost car.

Clapton, who is a renowned car collector, spent $4.7 million on the Ferrari, which makes it six times more expensive than the most expensive Ferrari factory car, the Enzo.  Working with the Special Projects division at Ferrari, the super sleek red Ferrari has a V8 engine, although Clapton wanted a V12 but the cars frame simply didn’t have the room to fit such an engine.  The car is still lighting fast, it goes 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 202mph.

The one-of-a-kind car was displayed briefly at the London Ferrari dealership but it caused too much of a scene and attention so the car was quickly hidden.  The British rocker knows how to drive in style, this hybrid Ferrari is one of the hottest cars out on the streets.
