Conard House Gala: The Bridge to Mental Health

Conard House Executive Director Richard Heasley & Keynote Speaker Alex Kutik

The Conard House hosted their annual fundraising gala on January 26, 2012.  Held at the iconic Bently Reserve, the event centered on raising awareness for San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents, the mentally ill.

The festivities began with hor de ‘oeuvres, cocktails and silent auction.  Guests then took their seats for a warm welcome from co-anchor for ABC7/KGO TV Cheryl Jennings. The evening continued with a touching recount from former board member Alex Kutik, who shared her personal story of battling Bipolar Disorder.  “More than 40 years ago, I came to San Francisco in search of my ‘real life,’” she said. “Through Conard House I learned that my real life is my recovery from mental illness.”

Kutik’s personal story was followed by high-profile live auction.  Proceeds from the evening totaled over $90K, and will be used to support the Fight Against Mental Illness.

The Gala Honorary Host Committee included Noma and Craig Adelman, The Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr., Marilyn and Michael Cabak, Chris Cunnie, The Honorable Dianne Feinstein, Robert Heldfond, James Illig, Lisa Law, Senator Mark Leno, Betty Louie, Janet and Clint Reilly, Jimmie and Marti Schein, and Dr. Fred and Lauren Paris Suess.
