Andie MacDowell to Speak about Ovarian Cancer at Palm Beach Luncheon

Model and actress Andie MacDowell will speak about ovarian cancer during the 11th Annual Time is of the Essence Lecture and Luncheon on January 30.

Taking place at the Flagler Museum Pavilion in Palm Beach, the 11th Annual Time is of the Essence Lecture and Luncheon will feature talks by Andie MacDowell and Dr. Karen H. Lu, professor of gynecologic oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

MacDowell has spent many years being a spokeswoman for ovarian cancer noting, “I have haven it upon myself to reach out to organizations that support ovarian cancer. I don’t merely want to be the face of something; I actually want to participate and physically show up.” MacDowell has a relationship with L’Oreal Paris, which was the catalyst for her becoming a spokeswoman for the cause.

Dr. Lu is scheduled to speak about the scientific quest for effective screening of ovarian cancer in women. Though the journey to find a method has had ups and downs, Dr. Lu believes significant progress is being made.

The event is being hosted by Chairwomen Lori Gendelman, Cobey Rapaport, Anita Michaels and Ann Candido. Honorary Chairwomen for the event are Frances Fisher and Fern Fodiman. Luncheon attire is required and tickets to the luncheon cost $325 per person. Guests aged 40 and under can purchase tickets for $150.

The event is organized by H.O.W. Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper, an organization that raises money and awareness for research in ovarian cancer, presents educational programs and recent advances in the field, provides support to medical students interested in the subject and helps women with ovarian cancer who are in financial need.

The Flagler Museum Pavilion is located at 1 Whitewall Way, Palm Beach, Florida.
