Moscow Plans to Built Tallest Observation Wheel in the World

Perhaps taking note from the success of the London Eye, Moscow is looking to bring tourists into the city by building the world’s tallest observation wheel standing 722 feet tall and tentatively called Moscow View Ferris Wheel.

The Moscow View Ferris Wheel is expected to top the 541 foot Singapore Flyer and the 443 foot London Eye. It will have a visually distinct spoke-less design that features passenger cabins that move along a rail system in the wheel. U.S.-based architecture firm Gensler are designing the wheel, which will be one part of a larger complex with restaurants, shopping, galleries and theaters. The entire project is expected to cost more than $300 million.

The city has not yet decided exactly where they want to put the giant Ferris wheel, however two possible locations include the Circus on Vernadsky Avenue and the OCE in Gorky Park.
