Haute Event: San Francisco Gets Gorgeous and Green

Global Green USA held their 7th annual Gorgeous and Green Gala at San Francisco’s iconic Bentley Reserve on December 6, 2011.

The glamorous gala is thrown each year to support sustainable technologies, fashion, and eco-conscious initiatives.  This year’s theme was “Moulin Rouge dinner theater”.  The Bentley reserve was transformed into a sultry dark red venue to fit the Moulin Rouge theme.  The star-studded event was attended by power-players from the bay area and beyond, including Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom and his beautiful wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom; CSI: Miami Star Omar Miller; and multi-platinum recording artist, Michelle Branch.

Michelle Branch performed for the intimate crowd while guests enjoyed organic cuisine prepared by chefs Michael Mina, Joseph Humphrey of Dixie, and Bill Corbett of Absinthe.  Guests were also treated to a green fashion show featuring the fabulous sustainably-made designs of Mina + Olya, Karen Caldwell, Sara Shepherd and Oliver Tolentino.

The fun didn’t stop there!  Guests had the opportunity to participate in the live auction to win fantastic eco-centric prizes.  Global Green announced  the winner of its National Green School Makeover Competition presented by Pureology, the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin.  Global Green also unveiled a new Green School Mobile App powered by Lincoln MKZ Hybrid.

Proceeds from the event benefitted Global Green USA’s mission to green urban environments.  For more information, visit  http://www.globalgreen.org/getinvolved/
