Gabriel Stulman to Open new Restaurant Scopa

Restaurateur Gabriel Stulman will be opening yet another restaurant in the city next spring as he moves eastward to present Scopa, which will be located in the old Bellavitae spot.

Gabe Stulman, whose restaurant empire is known to some as Little Wisco for Stulman’s predilection for hiring Midwesterners, is expanding his restaurant empire with Scopa, an Italian restaurant that will open under the auspices “of a talented yet to be named chef.” It will be located in the former Bellavitae spot, which is just one block from Minetta Tavern on a sleepy block of Minetta Lane between 6th Avenue and Minetta Street.

Stulman is known for his West Village restaurant trifecta that includes Joseph Leonard, Jeffrey’s Grocery and Fedora. Stulman signed the lease for Scopa last week and he and his team recently received approval to seek a license at 24 Minetta Lane.
