Forbes Rates Fisher Island as America’s Wealthiest Place

News | December 5, 2011

Forbes magazine has rated South Florida’s Fisher Island as the number one wealthiest place to live in America. The exclusive enclave came in first place by a large margin.

According to Forbes’ calculations, Fisher Island is still American’s number one “Millionaire Capitol.” After combing through IRS data and ranking zip codes by the average income of those who make at least $200,000 a year, Fisher Island came out on top, by a long shot.

After averaging the net-worth for individuals making over $200,000 per year, Forbes concluded that the average net worth for taxpayers on Fisher Island with at least $200,000 of income is an impressive $57.2 million.

Coming in second place is Alpine, New Jersey with an average net-worth of $27.5 million.

Fisher Island was not the only Florida area to make the exclusive list. Palm Beach came in fourth with an average high-end income of $23.3 million and Boca Raton came in seventh place with $21.2 million. In 11th place was Key Largo with $17.9 million and another Miami area, Bay Harbor Islands, was 14th with $16.6 million. Fort Lauderdale and Naples also managed to make the top 20 list.
