Monday marked the opening of Bigoli, a new Italian restaurant where Gonzo formerly stood on West 13th Street. Alex Stratta, once owner and chef at major Las Vegas eateries (one called Alex, the other, Stratta), is serving dishes in the likes of 24-hour duck confit, red wine-braised oxtail, lobster raviolo, and whole roasted black bass with blood orange salad (see the full menu here). Stratta first made his name in New York and then Scottsdale, Ariz. before opening his restaurants in Vegas and returning to the Big Apple. Stratta said the 84-seat restaurant will offer simple Italian food.
