As we all know Black Friday is the most talked about shopping experience for most Americans and what makes this weekend so special are not only the savings that are offered, but the amount of money that is spent every year. This past Black Friday Americans spent $11.4 billion, but that’s nothing compared to the money spent over the entire weekend. Well, according to the National Retail Foundation, Americans spent $52 billion dollars during that period. Not mention, most of the purchases were made in New York.

According to the NYC Economic Development Corporation, approximately $1 billion dollars were spent over the Black Friday weekend in the city. That’s 2 percent of the total. Despite, the supposedly terrible economy we live in, the NRF surveyed that 226 million shoppers spent on average $398.62 million over the entire weekend. This being an increase from 212 million shoppers from $365.34 previously spent.
