Tommy Lasagna Opens In Gramercy

On Thursday October 27th, New York’s ultimate lasagna destination, Tommy Lasagna opened in Gramercy where guests like designer Nicole Miller were able to sample the Italian restaurant’s signature dishes.

Executive Chef Thomas Mosera grew up working in his family’s restaurants and opened up his first restaurant, Baby Tommy’s Taste of New York, in Atlanta, GA.  The restaurant was an instant hit, and after opening up numerous restaurants along the east coast, he headed to New York to open up his next venture, Tommy Lasagna.

The menu features 8-12 varieties of homemade lasagnas and pastas nightly  like Truffle Lasagna (black truffles and chanterelle mushrooms), Lobster Lasagna (lobster with sherry sauce) and classics like Tommy Lasagna (Bolognese with Béchamel sauce and mozzarella) and Nonnas Lasagna (marinara, ricotta and mozzarella). The restaurant also offers a diverse wine list of primarily Italian choices as well as a full bar and signature cocktails.

The homestyle Italian restaurant is housed in a warm and chic 70 seat space designed by CetraRuddy. A floor-to-ceiling glass storefront showcases dark bronze wine cases that compliment the hewn wood wine racks and Italian marble bar inside. Sculpted glass pendants give a warm glow to the wooden bar creating an inviting venue for breakfast, drinks or dinner. Upon entering, patrons will discover a combination of dark wood, exposed brick, and white tile complimented by limed walls and inviting leathers and fabrics. The Modernist decor is accented by highly hued marble, vintage detailing and curated furniture selections that add to the enchantment of the space. The dining room’s focus is the open kitchen and pasta bar featuring fresh pasta made daily. Whether dining at the pasta bar or at custom designed poplar tables, guests can watch fresh pasta being made and the chef at work on his sumptuous creations.

Tommy Lasagna is located at 119 E. 18th Street.
