Haute 100 Update: Tom Cruise Films ‘Mission Impossible’ in Dubai, Will Likely Boost Tourism

News | November 6, 2011

Tom Cruise is filming the latest edition of the famed Mission Impossible franchise, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, in Dubai. The Hollywood megastar has been seen all over the burgeoning city, including dangling from the 124th floor observation deck of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Dubai is expecting a boost in tourism with the movie’s highly anticipated release, much as Abu Dhabi did after Sex and the City 2 was set there, despite the fact that it was actually filmed in Morocco.

Cruise spent a good several months in Dubai with his family during the filming and personally thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammad on his blog for his hospitality.

“Dubai is an exceptionally beautiful and very family friendly location,” said Cruise. “My family and I spent our evenings at the water park, go-karting, indoor skiing, shopping, scuba diving, camel riding, desert dune bashing, and we still didn’t fit in all that there is to enjoy!”

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is set to hit theaters in December.
