Haute 100 Update: Leo DiCaprio Throws A-List Birthday Bash for Charity

News | November 17, 2011

Leonardo DiCaprio is at the top of the entertainment industry for many reasons, including his incredible sense of environmentalism and charity. The actor celebrated his birthday with a huge blowout bash in New York City – but not just for the fun of it.

The star’s 37th birthday party on Fri., Nov. 11 (11/11/11) raised funds for his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which finances wildlife protection projects and provides disaster relief and access to clean water in disaster-stricken countries like Haiti.

The guest list was littered with A-list names like Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton, Bradley Cooper, Naomi Campbell, Kevin Connolly, Benicio del Toro, and more. Music was provided by a group of well-noted artists – Mark Ronson, Q-Tip, Jus Ske, and Mike Snow.

Although it was quite unusual for such a high-profile party, guests were charged for all drinks to raise money for the foundation.

Guests also took part in an auction to raise additional funds for DiCaprio’s foundation, with luxurious lots to include a 15-liter bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne custom painted for the 11/11/11-themed soiree by renowned artist Peter Tunney. The bottle fetched a whopping $50,000.
