Haute 100 Update: Despite Grudges, LeBron James Reaches Out to Former Fans on Behalf of Northern Ohio Schools

News | November 10, 2011

LeBron James has taken a lot of heat for his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat, with most of the outrage spurring from the northern Ohio region. That doesn’t stop James, however, from reaching out to his former fans in the area for a good cause.

The NBA star has been taking to the phone lines to spread awareness and encourage people to vote on a tax levy that would save schools from suffering massive budget cuts. He recorded a message about the issue that was dialed out to approximately 30,000 households around the Cleveland area.

James has described his schooling experience as a blessing and strongly feels that this generation of children deserves the same experience he was able to get through education. Thus, through the message, he pushed the significance of supplying educational outlets with the funding they so ardently need and deserve.

This is just the latest in a slew of projects the philanthropic all-star has participated in regarding education, including leading and funding read-a-thons and donating 1,000 computers to schools in Northern Ohio.
