News | October 19, 2011

Music producer extraordinaire Swizz Beatz is joining New York mayor Michael Bloomberg to raise awareness for New York City public healthcare and the upcoming anti-gun campaign, “Guns Down, Life Up.”

Beatz was honored last night, Oct. 18, by Mayor Bloomberg during the STAT! For New York City’s Public Hospitals! gala benefit event at the Bellevue Hospital atrium for his philanthropic work.

The event was littered with celebrities in support of the cause, including George Clinton, Sheila E., Doug E. Fresh, Questlove, Marley Marl, Kangol Kid, Kool Herc, Bernie Worrell, Paul Shaffer, Hezekiah Walker, Meredith Viera, Ray Chew, and others.

A portion of the evening’s events go towards supporting the launch of the “Guns Down, Life Up” initiative, which aims to combat gun violence in New York City.
