Announcing Apple’s New Chef

News | October 14, 2011

Menlo Park’s Japanese eatary, Kaygetsu announced its closing last week. However, this news comes with a silver lining: Chef-owner Todhi Sakuma has been hired as the new chef at Apple’s Caffe Macs in Cupertino. Sakuma will be working in the Japanese section of the cafeteria. However, this cafe is only open to Apple employees and their guests.

Co-owner Keiko Sakuna commented on the news of the closing,

“We are so grateful and honored that Kaygetsu was loved by so many people.  It’s a wonderful feeling to realize that we created something special and that the effort we put in was worthwhile.  We took a huge risk when we first opened Kaygetsu; and we weren’t sure we made the right move, in the first few months.  But, now we can honestly say that we have accomplished our goal, which was to broaden the concept of Japanese food beyond sushi.”
