The Five Most Popular Cuisines

News | September 20, 2011

The folks over at Living Social have put together a little survey about the dining habits of San Francisco and the rest of America.

The Living Social survey involved 4,000 people who either made an online purchase within the last six months or said they were very likely to make an online purchase in the next six months. In other words, not necessarily Living Social customers, but rather, general online consumers. Some of the findings were interesting (San Franciscans consider themselves the country’s healthiest eaters) while some, not so much (for instance, SF diners are trying Thai food more).

And be very glad you don’t live in Sacramento, which was “declared” the second-worst dining city in the country.

Also, of interest is the findings as to what cuisines are the most commonly chosen when dining out. On the national scale, the list ranks in this order:

  1. Italian
  2. Mexican
  3. Chinese
  4. Pizza
  5. Steakhouse
