San Franciscans Are The Country’s Worst Tippers

According to the new Zagat San Francisco Bay Area Restaurants Guide, San Franciscans are the Country’s worst tippers. If the title posited by Zagat is true, Bay Area diners have the proud distinction of being the worst tippers.
Bay Area diners tip an average of 18.6 percent, which tied with Seattle for the lowest; the national average is 19.2 percent.
According to Inside Scoop, many people, in San Francisco at least, deduct part of the three or four percent that restaurants tack onto the bill for Healthy San Francisco, thus leaving a smaller tip on the meal.
People in the Bay Area generally eat out a lot, are very socially conscious and generous. So what gives?
