Room at the Inn

News | September 22, 2011

Following in the footsteps of the Dover Street Arts Club and Home House, The Markham Inn Restaurant and Cafe is the latest haunt to open on a heritage rich site.

Dynamic duo Piers Adam and Nick House (of Whisky Mist, Mahiki and The Punch Bowl fame), have taken over a former pub and turned it into an upscale restaurant and café.

Although The Markham Inn has only been open a few weeks, it’s already become a hot spot to hang out in Chelsea.

Little wonder: the shiny black wooden floors and red studded banquettes (the inspiration of Rob Angel – the creative director at David Collins studio for 15 years) combine to create a drop dead gorgeous all day dining venue.

Come here for breakfast (The Markham Inn does the best waffles), lunch, tea and dinner – or even a simple homemade cream soda and a scoop of cinnamon and chilli-salted popcorn. Children aren’t neglected either (Chef Mark Blatchford, who launched the Big Apple’s Soho House, has designed a proper kids’ menu) and the seriously good looking staff welcome dogs too.

Someone has done their homework here and it shows: gold star.
