Animal Friendly West Hollywood Bans Fur Sales

News | September 20, 2011

West Hollywood would rather go for a walk than sell fur.

West Hollywood City Council members voted 5-0 early today in favor of banning the sale of clothing or personal attire made of animal hair, wool or fur. The critter-friendly community is known for its animal rights laws, as pets in West Hollywood are recognized as ‘companions’ and their owners as ‘guardians’.

City council members will craft details of the new law, including date of implementation and fees for civil penalties by the next council meeting.
