Regina Arriola’s Travel Diary: Until We Meet Again
As my journey came to a close, I was enthralled by the dreamy cities of Monte Carlo and St. Tropez. Having already touched upon the sensational style in this part of town, my final travel post will cover the prodigious Hermitage Hotel and Hotel Paris Casino in Monte Carlo, as well as the swank Hotel Sezz and lively Villa Romana restaurant in St. Tropez.
“Relaxation, the art of true living, an unmistakable sophistication – such is the spirit of the Belle Epoque which brings the Hotel Hermitage to life.”
The Hotel Hermitage in Monaco is the epitome of discreet luxury and refinement. The hotel features a spa and health center that offers preventive health procedures, a Turkish hamman, a seawater swimming pool, and a full service salon. Although the Hotel Paris holds greater acclaim, the Hermitage is an equally impressive hotel, tucked away from the buzzing center of the city. The casino at the Hotel Paris, however, is an experience in itself and a must-see locale.
A popular pastime in St. Tropez is lounging at one of the many beach clubs, such as Le Club 55 or Nikki Beach. Although the beaches provide a perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon, planning an evening trip to Villa Romana for dinner is necessary, and will surely be memorable. With models dressed in outlandish costumes, guests dancing on their dinner tables, and a live DJ playing crowd favorites from Beyonce to Cindy Lauper, Villa Romana is an entertaining venue where a good time is guaranteed.
A recent addition to the string of hotels in St. Tropez is the Hotel Sezz. A boutique hotel, the Hotel Sezz has rooms centered around its lavish pool that are smart in décor and vast in their lay out. The restaurant of the hotel, Colette, is fantastic and serves authentic French cuisine accompanied with a warm ambiance.
Having recently arrived back in Miami after over a month abroad, I have a more worldly perspective about culture and fashion, and how the two go hand in hand. By spending time in three countries, I was able to compare and contrast style trends I observed. Lifestyle plays a huge role in terms of fashion, and while fashion trends change through the seasons, a signature style remains present in every city around the world. London’s style stamp includes nautical stripes and trench coats from designers like Burberry. In Milan it consists of fluidity and bold color, and in Paris style is always understated and elegant. Lastly, style in the south of France can be defined in one word: glamorous!
