A Night in Casablanca
Want a break from the usual London bars and clubs? Sign up A Night in Casablanca – brought to you by the Candlelight Club.
The party will take place across two nights (August 19 and 20) and pay homage to the scents, sights and tastes of North Africa. Expect shisha pipes in the palm-filled courtyard, where you can contemplatively puff on sweetly flavoured molasses tobacco. Other attractions? Enjoy a bespoke Moroccan inspired menu and music courtesy of the fabulous Frenchman Benoit Viellefon and his orchestra – guaranteed to have you body bopping until you drop.
That’s not all. For your entertainment, this clandestine pop up cocktail bar is also offering a belly dancer (Khalisha), whose set will culminate in a performance with a live snake (we kid you not)!
As ever the precise location of the Candlelight Club’s central London venue is a secret, revealed to ticket holders a couple of days before the party, but you can expect the event to take place against a stunning backdrop of hundreds of candles.
It’s not just the décor that dazzles: the dress code sparkles too. Follow the lead of London’s glitterati and seek sartorial inspiration from Casablanca (starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman), Morocco (featuring Gary Cooper as a French Foreign Legionnaire and Marlene Dietrich as a nightclub singer) or 1942’s Road to Morocco.
Regardless, as organiser Clayton Hartley puts it: “one way or another, come nightfall everyone finds their way to the Candlelight Club”.
