Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink Celebrates Miami Spice 3 Ways

News | July 28, 2011

In Miami’s rat race for top restaurant, one has always shined above the rest. Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink aka Michael’s or MGFD has become the quintessential favorite amongst many of Miami’s top food loving residents. It’s no surprise really, being that the chef has vast credentials backing him up. Apart from a slew of nominations, Michael Schwartz is a James Beard Award Winner- Best Chef South 2010. Plus, the spot’s got a mean pork belly and a divine dessert list helmed by Hedy Goldsmith, another great chef with a batch of nominations herself. As an avid participator of Miami Spice, the restaurant’s kicking it up a notch or three and celebrating it 3 ways.

Miami Spice which officially begins on Monday, August 1 and lasts through September 30 will be offered at both Michael’s locations in Miami and Grand Cayman. Lunch, 3 courses at $22, will be available Monday through Friday and dinner, 3 courses at $35, will be available Monday through Thursday. The Michael’s emporium will also be present at Miami Spice’s Kickoff Party on Thursday, July 28 at the Miami Beach Convention Center from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Schwartz will be on hand to sign and sell his newest cookbook, Michael’s Genuine Food: Down-to-Earth Cooking for People Who Love to Eat. They will also demonstrate the dish Falafel with Tahini Sauce and serve tasting portions of Charbroiled Leg of Lamb with Greek Farro Salad, French Feta and Salsa Verde.

Still want more? Guests that dine on the Miami Spice special can also purchase an autographed copy of the cookbook for the discounted priced of $20 instead of the original $25.

Want to sneak a peek at the Grand Cayman menu? Here are some choices you’ll find on the select menu: Slow roasted Niman Ranch pork shoulder, pan roasted local snapper, wood roasted local breadfruit salad, pulled pork sandwich, and crispy hominy.

And in case you’d forgotten, Michael’s is 100% Slow Food approved!
