Miami City Ballet to be Featured in Reality Show, En Pointe
The Academy Award winning film, Black Swan, increased the popularity of ballet tenfold., but while the film was ingenious, it didn’t offer a peek into the true reality of the ballet world. A new reality show still in production, En Pointe, will give viewers just that, a front row seat to the intimate and hardcore world of The Dancer Behind the Curtain from grueling practices to demanding perfection and life in between. You’ll almost be able to taste the tears.
Lisa Jenkins, director of Dreamfly Productions says : “The passion of these cast members is utterly awe-inspiring. Not to mention their beauty! The show is so much more than dancing, the drama and art brings a new meaning to the word ‘sexy,’ it’s simply addictive.”
The series will showcase our very own Miami City Ballet Company as it prepares for the most prestigious ballet festival in Paris, France. The Les Etes de Danse Festival – Summers of Dance, runs from July 6 through July 23 at the Theatre du Catelet in Paris, France. The Miami City Ballet, under the great leadership of Edward Villella, will present 17 performances including works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp and Christopher Wheeldon.
The show continues filming through the end of the summer across the world and will feature a variety of ballet companies throughout the country. Be on the lookout when the show airs this fall.
