“Smart” fashion is everywhere. More and more, new technologies are combining with classic fashion designs to create items that are dynamic and also double as rare luxury items.

Take this “video gown” from CuteCircuit. The $20,000 dress has motion sensors that make its embroidery glow brighter when you’re moving around fast and dim when you’re standing still. Talk about “she was the light of the party.”

Or make like Fergie and strut in a pair of Jimmy Choo “ Zappa” sandals. This $2,495 black patent leather and suede shoe houses a battery that lights up its platform sole.

You’ll see more smart fashion as celebrities try them on the red carpet. Rihanna wore a Mortiz Waldemeyer laser dress on her concert tour, and that was a CuteCircut LED dress Katy Perry wore to the MET Costume Institute Gala in New York City this year. After her appearance, the company was besieged with calls.

It’s only a matter of time until your sparkly clutch will be Bluetooth enabled, your bracelet texts, and your shoes are GPS. Oh, hold on….
