Hautels: Ritz-Carlton Plans To Build New Hotel in Kyoto, Japan

News | May 6, 2011

Ritz-Carlton plans to open its third property in Japan, this time in the ancient city of Kyoto. This project, which includes the rebuilding of now closed Hotel Fujita Kyoto, is expected to start early next year and be completed by 2014. The hotel will feature fewer than 140 guest rooms, restaurants and a spa, all combining aspects from both traditional Japanese and Western luxury hotel styles.

The property, located along the Kamo River near the popular Gion district, is expected to cost approximately $600 per night.

Japan, who was devastated by the recent earthquake and tsunami, has seemed to gain speed on furthering their economy, and hope that this will further enhance their tourism.
