Haute Event: Candace Bushnell at Books & Books

Tuesday evening, Books & Books in Coral Gables was transformed into a parade of pink streamers, complimentary cocktails, and Manolo wearing women in search for their own Mr. Big. That’s right, the creator of Sex & the City herself, the lovely Candace Bushnell was here to entertain with her witty charm as she discussed her new book, Summer in the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel, answered audience questions, and autographed her novel.

The women flocked to the bookstore mingling with Candace on the outdoor patio before she took the stage, with wine glass in hand and one spectacular pair of heels on her feet. She briefly read from her latest book, the sequel to the prequel of The Carrie Diaries. Once the reading was finished she happily took question after question, answering that yes she is in fact a “Carrie,” while proclaiming her love for Sarah Jessica Parker and announced that the pilot episode of the HBO series of Sex & the City was by far her favorite.

Once the questions were finished, women anxiously stood in a line that seemed to never end, in hopes to get up close and personal with the chick lit icon. Comment after comment, book after book, Candace embraced each and every fan like they were the very first. She signed all memorabilia that was presented to her, while posing with each and every woman for a once in a lifetime photo.

Candace stirred up South Florida once again getting readers excited to see what young Carrie Bradshaw has in store when she begins her first summer in the city with her new best friend, Ms. Samantha Jones. Candace says Summer in the City has an exciting ending, which we are all sure to be wowed by. After all, this is the woman that made us fall in love with Carrie as an adult. We can only imagine how much we will love her as a tween.
