The Stats: Wendi McGowan received her degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. She started her first company before graduation, and over the past 19 years Wendi has built a consulting practice as an interactive marketing and branding expert. In 2009, she picked up her first palette knife and began to paint, creating an escape from board rooms and executive meetings. With the union of her art and her fashion mind, bolarti was born.

Wendi McGowan is not your typical artist. True, the very nature of an artist it to be atypical, but the manner in which McGowan intertwines her painting with fashion architecture is surely something to be seen. Luckily, it is being seen, upon the shoulders and clutched in the hands of discerning Dallas women the city over. Her exclusive line of hand-painted bespoke bags, known as bolarti, is a chic, sophisticated collection coveted by fashion-forward individuals and artistic types alike. McGowan’s ingenious creations, crafted with superior acrylic paints and Italian canvas, let owners actually feel a work of art every time they grab their bag. Her collection even earned her a spot on the up-and-coming list as a contender in this year’s Texas’ Next Top Designer.
