Haute Spot: Lester Harry’s Children’s Boutique
Owner Jane Seifert created her store with the vision of an art gallery setting used to display stylish baby clothes. The concept has taken off and hit home with mothers, aunts, grandmothers and friends who seek such a soft and elegant shopping experience when spending for their tiny style-stars. Named after Seifert’s father, Lester Harry, her flagship store opened in Marblehead in 1997, followed by the Newbury Street store in 2002. Since then it has become the go-to spot for those seeking fabulous children’s items.
With a few friends following Hollywood in this spring’s “baby bump” trend, I decided to check out Lester Harry’s. While I am admittedly new to the world of onesies, booties, and footsies, it doesn’t take an expert to know this store has created something special. With familiar brands such as Eberjey, Juicy, Splendid, and Ella Moss, it’s easy for newcomers to the world of baby fashion to find their way. Those more experienced connoisseurs will appreciate labels like Lili Gaufrette, Tartine Et Chocolat, Petit Bateau, and Flora and Henri. They are also well stocked with toys, games, skincare products, diaper bags, strollers, carriers, and more.
I’m not going to follow the expected cliché and tell you I wanted to ask, “Do you make this in my size?” But I will say I was very tempted to ask, “Do you promise to still carry this by the time I have a baby, because I think my husband would be confused if I bought it now.” Stop by Lester Harry’s to get ideas for later, or treats to give others now (check out the Top Ten Gifts page on their website for a cheat sheet)! Tiny sizes never looked so haute.
Lester Harry’s is located at 115 Newbury Street, Boston, 617.927.5400
