Haute Event: Ellie Fund’s 15th Annual Oscar Night Gala at Mandarin Oriental Boston
The famous Hollywood sign was nowhere to be seen, but Hollywood was in the air on Sunday night at the Ellie Fund’s 15th Annual Oscar Night Gala held at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston.
Champagne was flowing and the red carpet was packed as everyone came out to support the Ellie Fund and view the Oscars.
The event is the only of its kind in Boston and is officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. The only thing truly missing were the A-list celebrities but event attendees got to feel like they were the stars.
This black tie event was emceed by the WCVB-TV5’ Susan Wornick, Bianca de la Garza, JC Monahan and David Brown and portions of the event were live on television.
Cast from “The Fighter” were on hand to support the night and included Melissa McMeekin, Erica McDermott, Kate O’Brien, Sean Doherty, and Lowell Sgt. Mickey O’Keefe. Other noted guests included fashion designers Michael DePaulo, and Denise Hajjar, Chris Lambton from “The Bachelorette,” Brian Kelly of the Kelly Automotive Group, best selling author Casey Sherman, Angela Peri of Boston Casting, Jodi Purdy-Quinlan of South Shore Casting, Cathy Poulin of Bobs Discount Furniture and Miss Massachusetts USA Alida D’Angona.
The Ellie Fund is a local breast cancer organization in the Boston area founded by Jeff Popkin and Eliot Popkin. The fund honors their mother who battled breast cancer and supports future breast cancer patients. The Ellie Fund would like to thank Subaru of New England who was the event’s Presenting Sponsor and enabled the event to donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the Ellie Fund to help fight breast cancer.
