Fashion and Style in Photography Festival Kicks off in Moscow

The 7th Fashion and Style in Photography festival has commenced in the Russian capital. The Multimedia Art Museum (former Moscow House of Photography) is once again bringing several displays to Moscow showcasing works by iconic photo artists. After six years of its successful work in the capital, Fashion and Style in Photography has become one of the main highlight in Moscow’s cultural life.

This year the Multimedia Art Museum is bringing a number of thematic displays that show style and fashion in faces – legendary photographers, rock stars, fashion designers, movie stars, artists and other famous people. The aim of the project is to present the finest photographic works from famous fashion photographers to the dedicated fashion following of Moscow.

Highlights of this year’s festival include Cambridge Jones’ selection titled Royal Power, Politics and Hollywood, fashion photographer Jurg Teller’s latest works, Mick Jagger as he has been photographed over the years, a dedication to Marlene Dietrich, Italian realism 1945-1975 and an exhibition of Karl Lagerfeld’s cult 2011 Pirelli calendar.

Many of this year’s displays will be dedicated to the Russia-Italy cross-cultural year. This section of the festival will see an exhibition of Italian realism Photographs of 1945-1975 from Paolo Morello’s collection; a display featuring stars of Italian cinema in the 1950s-1980s shot by Tazio; and two displays by Roman photographer Marco Delogu.

One more Italy-related display that was included in the festival’s program, Fellini.Grand-Parade, dedicated to one of the most influential directors of the 20th Century.

Other venues taking part in the festival include the GUM shopping centre, Manezh Central Exhibition Hall, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery and several others smaller galleries and clubs.

The Fashion and Style in Photography festival will run through May 15.
