Wayuu Taya Foundation Handbags for Charity at Luxury Retailers Barneys & Shopbop

News | February 3, 2011

What is a greater feeling than buying a brand new bag while at the same time supporting a charitable cause?! Recently the Wayuu Taya foundation has designed a line of hand made bags that are becoming a huge success! The tribal looking bags are being sold in department stores such as Barneys, popular websites like Shopbop.com, and are being exported to Japan, Germany and Turkey shortly. Wayuú women at Shukumajaya, a women’s center that helps educate women on family planning and health, created the bags to help make the foundation self sustainable.

The Wayúu Tayá Foundation is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization that was founded in 2002 to help improve the lives of Latin-American indigenous communities. The proceeds from the sale of all of there bags go to benefiting the Wayuú native people. By purchasing one of these bags not only are you getting a fun, new colorful accessory but you are also helping to make the world a better place.
