Van Cleef & Arpels Design Showcase in New York
Some of the greatest moments throughout fashion history have been accompanied by Van Cleef & Arpels. The one hundred-plus age old jewelry powerhouse has graced some of the most iconic celebrities in the past few decades such as Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrech, Jackie Kennedy, Julia Roberts, and a slew of others. Van Cleef & Arpels has also been renown for igniting grand, romantic gestures between famed couples, like Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Burton continuously one-upped himself time and time and again, giving Taylor numerous tokens of affection, including a Van Cleef and Arpels diamond tiara. John F. Kennedy also proposed to Jackie Onasis with a classic Van Cleef & Arpels 2.88 stunning rock.
And now, there’s an opportunity to bask in the beauty firsthand. From Feb. 18 through June 5, Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum will showcase diamonds one can only dream of or see in picture books from the archives of the luxe brand. “All of the pieces are from collectors who appreciated ingenuity; they understood that Van Cleef was not just about big glamourous rocks, but innovative design,” stated curator Sarah Coffin.
There will be plenty of bling and baubles to be seen, both past and present, and though we’re suckers for innovative design–we don’t really mind some glamourous rocks. So, stay tuned, take a trip with a few girlfriends or your loved one, and take a few pointers from some pretty good guys who know how to make a gal smile–and sparkle.
