Haute Event: Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink Brunch Aboard Biscayne Lady

On Sunday, Feb. 27 the Biscayne Lady yacht made South Beach Wine & Food Festival history when it hosted Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink Brunch while floating the pristine waters of Miami’s own Biscayne Bay. The two-hour tour set sail at 11:30 a.m. and was helmed by none other than James Beard Award-Winning Chef Michael Schwartz, pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith, and culinary legend Jonathon Waxman of New York City’s Barbuto.

Those who braved the event were treated to an opulent brunch masterminded by Schwartz, Goldsmith, and Waxman. On the menu was both savory and sweet small plates made using seasonal ingredients from local farms (envision sweet heirloom tomatoes, delicate squash blossoms, and an encyclopedia of herbs) along with Hedy’s childhood treats including her prize Pop Tarts. Guests were also treated to a live jazz band that began playing shortly after The Biscayne Lady set sail and of course an assortment of delicious and strong hand-crafted cocktails.
