Haute Event: Miami Design District to Hold Fashion Weekend 2011

Although Fashion Week is currently taking place in New York, in Miami Beach, we always have our own lineup of fashion shows and fashion events such like Fashion Week of The Americas and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim. However,  just recently, there has been an addition to the fashion roster.  And get ready Miami for Miami Design District Fashion Weekend!

Over the past few years, the Miami Design District has grown tremendously. With the emergence of high-rises, comes the emergence of more people, and with more people comes the development of retail space for companies like Sauvage, Christian Louboutin, Y3, Marni, En Avance, Pacific Time, NIBA- Home, Jonathan Adler, Sebastien James, Margiela, and more.  These companies are the result of the district’s growing popularity and create a reason for people to continue to shop and explore the area. With all those reasons, John Aston, the founder of the Miami Design District Magazine has decided it was a more fitting time than ever to introduce “Miami Design District Fashion Week 2011!”

According to Aston, Design District Fashion Weekend will be a yearly event showcasing the most prestigious fashion brands in the Miami Design District. This year, the event will be held March 18-20, and is expected put the Design District in the spotlight as the world-class destination it has become. Throughout the two days, fashion brands from the Miami Design District will have the opportunity to advertise and show their collections in a private runway event that will gather the “Who’s Who” of the Miami fashion and social scene including representatives of local and national level targeted media outlets, buyers, and consumers. The weekend will kick off with a cocktail reception to honor and introduce the participating designers, brands and event partners. Guests will have an exclusive sneak peek of each collection, which will be showcased throughout the weekend.  Keep in mind, this will be an invitation event only!

According to CEO John Aston, it is still not too late for sponsors and designers to participate in the first Miami Design District Fashion Week! This will definitely be a historical event for Miami.
