Haute Dining: Hamamori’s Valentine’s Day Menu
If you think every Valentine’s Day dinner has to be decadent and rich, there’s no reason. The offering at South Coast Plaza gem Hamamori is a fresh and light take and it’s not any less luxe than say, a steak dinner for two. From Fri. Feb. 10 through Mon. Feb. 14, the restaurant will be serving a prix fixe lunch or dinner celebrating the romance of the season.
Starting tomorrow, Hamamori will be offering the Valentine’s prix fixe menu for $47. The three courses can also be ordered a la carte if you’re more in the mood to let Chef Hamamori take you through your sushi experience personally with his famed tastings. The menu includes a first course of Wagyu beef tartare with pickled daikon and negi, Ponzu sauce, Japanese mustard, and quail egg, served with lotus root chips or cured yellowtail and watercress salad with watercress. For a second course, diners can choose from lobster and Tokyo onion ravioli served with truffles and buerre noisette or soy-sesame filet mignon. For dessert, there’s the choice of a yuzu and chocolate tuiles with yuzu meringues served with blackberries and yuzy honey or strawberry and shiso sorbet served with orange.
Sitting high atop the center’s west wing and with great floor-to-ceiling views of the Costa Mesa skyline, there’s no doubt that this Valentine’s Day definitely doesn’t mean playing it old school.
