Confectionary Round-Up: Doughnut Plant to Launch New Location on Valentine’s Day

Just last week I reported on Godiva’s magnificent new pop-up on Fifth Avenue dedicated to all that is Valentine’s Day. Well, it seems chocolate’s monopoly of love is finally being contested by none other than Mark Israel, founder of the Lower East Side hotspot Doughnut Plant, as he will open a brand new location in the Chelsea Hotel on Valentine’s Day. As a purveyor of all things sweet and doughy, Doughnut Plant has satisfied loyal customers and newcomers alike for 16 years, and now is branching out of their small, industrial-style space for a more friendly and doughnut-themed experience, including doughnut inspired furniture and decorative doughnut pillows adorning the walls.

As can be expected, all doughnuts will be handmade on site at the Chelsea location, as they are downtown, and will promise to stock all the favorites. But, to commemorate the opening, several new concoctions will be introduced, including, as reported by Diner’s Journal, chocolate chip, salty peanuts, and oatmeal.

If you are looking for an alternative to giving or receiving the old stand-by box of chocolates, why not celebrate this Valentine’s Day at Doughnut Plant and enjoy an indulgent twist on traditional sweets.

Doughnut Plant is located at 379 Grand Street, and will open at the Chelsea Hotel, 220 West 23rd Street, beginning Feb. 14.
