New Restaurant Coming Soon: Philadelphia’s Zama Sushi to Miami Beach

News | January 13, 2011

I’m a Philly girl at heart. So when I heard that the popular Zama sushi restaurant was coming to Miami, I was more than ecstatic. Zama is the creation of Chef Hiroyuki “Zama” Tanaka, whose résumé includes Chef at restauranteur Steven Starr’s popular eateries, Pod and Morimoto.

Zama’s menu features a host of innovative Sushi rolls, sashimi, maki, and other popular Japanese dishes. At the Philly outpost, Chef Zama has been known for inventing some masterful rolls, like his “Justice For All” roll that debuted to celebrate the Eagles’ player Winston Justice, a roll that was crafted in the team’s colors. What’s in store for Miami? Perhaps a roll dedicated to Dwyane Wade or LeBron James? We’ll find out soon enough! Zama is slated to open at iconic Shelbourne Hotel at the end of January.

The Shelbourne is located at 1801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; www.zamarestaurant.com
