LOL @ Magner’s Comedy Festival Boston
You could use a good laugh. Luckily, Boston is a great stand-up comedy town. And this weekend just so happens to be a particularly great weekend for comedy in town.
The Magner’s Comedy Festival landed in town last night and runs through Monday, January 31st. And though you may have missed the Boston vs. New York competition last night, you may still be stinging from the last time we took on NYC. The still-to-come attractions are certainly still worth digging yourself out of the snow to go and see.
Tonight through January 29th hit up the Magner’s Comic Stand-Off featuring twenty local stand-ups competing for a spot at the Magner’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival in Scotland this spring. The shows take place at Nick’s Comedy Stop (100 Warrenton St, Theatre District, Boston 617.482.0930) and tickets are available in advance on their website.
Headliners for the festival are nationally known comedians known for stand up and TV. On Friday, January 28th, see Sebastian Maniscalco seen in Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show and on the late night talk show circuit or Donald Glover from NBC’s Community and 30 Rock. Both will be appearing at the Wilbur Theatre (246 Tremont St., Theater District, Boston 617.248.9700). Tickets to see Maniscalco at 730PM and Glover at 10PM are available online.
Saturday, January 29th at the Wilbur, see Greg Fitzsimmons, known for his stand-up as seen on Leno, Letterman and Conan and Ben Bailey, best known as the host of Discovery Channel’s Cash Cab game show. Tickets to see Fitzsimmons at 7PM or Bailey at 945PM are both available online.
Also on Friday and Saturday night, check out Boston’s own Hungry Hungry Hipsters over at the Improv Asylum (216 Hanover St., North End, Boston 617.263.6887) for their main stage show.
Headliner for the festival is Aziz Ansari from NBC’s Parks and Recreation and host of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. His two shows at the Wilbur Theatre on Sunday, January 30th are already sold out, but a third show has been added for Monday, January 31st at 7:30PM. Get your tickets here.
Go ahead – loosen up and laugh a little bit.
