Haute Event: Doggies on the Catwalk

Doggies on the Catwalk 2011 hits the runway this Friday with more bite than ever before and promises to be a doggone good time. All puns aside, the fourth annual event partnering fashion with education and, of course, man’s best friends is hands down the best event of the season.

Doggies on the Catwalk, benefiting Pets Are Loving Support (PALS), a local organization that provides pet care and support to the companion pets of critically ill and disabled Atlantans. The event will feature 17 doggie models working the catwalk in designs by students enrolled in Grady High School’s acclaimed UrbanCouture program and guest designer Annie Griffin.

Although the pets are the bona fide stars of this show, local celebrities including Richelle Carey, Jenn Hobby, Rich Eldredge, Michaeline Roland, Stephanie Davis Smith and Atlanta Falcons Coy Wire and Brian Finneran will be there to walk the runway with their canine counterparts. In addition to the star-studded fashion show, guests can participate in a silent auction beginning earlier that night and enjoy lite bites provided by Dennis Dean Catering, voted “Best of Atlanta 2004 Caterer” by Creative Loafing.

The show kicks off next Friday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Grady High School Gymnasium, with the silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to park at Park Tavern for under $10 and take a free Fur Bus shuttle to Grady High and back for the after party.
