Haute Event: Celebs Attend Ninth Annual GEM Awards

The 2011 GEM Awards by the Jewelry Information Center celebrated fine jewelry at Cipriani 42nd Street Friday night. The award ceremony honored Dr. Jeffrey E. Post, curator of the U.S. National Gem and Mineral Collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, with the GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement. In addition, Breitling received the GEM Award for Corporate Communications, and Marie Claire Magazine accepted the GEM Award for Journalistic Excellence. And luxury jeweler Neil Lane received the GEM Award for Jewelry Style. Actress Cynthia Nixon attended, wearing a beautiful red Carolina Herrera dress. TV Personality Lloyd Boston was also in attendance

GEM Awards is the fine jewelry industry’s annual gala; it recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals and companies who work to raise the visibility and status of fine jewelry and watches.
