Artisan Timepiece Retailer Dedegumo Opens Up First U.S. Store in New York

News | January 4, 2011

Time is money, and at the Kyoto-import Dedegumo, the old saying holds true. The Japanese watchmaker has opened up its very first store in the United States showcasing their array of custom-made watches. The store lets customers watch as they craft the timepieces in their open workshop.

The retailer is not just any watchmaker; they only make one-of-a-kind watches, which buyers can build from different straps to unique watch faces and hands. Their artisanal watchmakers will also work with you to create a custom timepiece so it fits your every desire. Once your watch is ready for your wrist, you will receive it in a “masu,” or a wooden box, wrapped in a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth.

Dedegumo can be found at 188 Orchard St., near East Houston Street. 212.677.1977
