‎Reflect, Rejoice and React With Promise

Celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. today, not just with a re-rendering of his words but by living his dream and fulfilling his prophecies. We have come a long way but the promise land is still before us and we can only find it together.

Many Helping Hands

Participate in a day of service that will hopefully lead to a year and lifelong devotion of service to help others. Many Helping Hands is sponsored and hosted by the YWCA of Cambridge located in Central Square. The event begins at 2PM, is open to participants of all ages, and hopes to bring awareness to the needs of local Cambridge residents. Activities includes creating Valentine’s cards for elder residents and service men and women, making emergency room activity kits for children waiting in Cambridge area emergency rooms waiting areas, and making scarves and blankets for at risk infants, children and homeless adults. 14th Annual Amilcar L. Cabral & Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration

The Center for African, Caribbean and Community Development and African Studies Department at UMass Boston are joining together today for the 14th annual celebration of the life and teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Amilcar L. Cabral. Cabral was an agronomist, nationalist leader, theoretician, who helped lead Guinea-Bissau to Independence.  And, like MLK, was killed before his time by way assassination. The event begins at 11AM.  Tickets are free.  Register for yours here.

RACE at the Museum of Science

Visit RACE, the new exhibit at the Museum of Science for a biological, cultural, and historical view of race.  The exhibit proclaims to explore the reality and non-reality of our difference throughout this interactive exhibit. Entrance is free with museum exhibit admission. Purchase tickets online here.

There are countless ways we can celebrate the life and teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. today and every day. Whether you participate in an organized event today or not, take the time to re-evaluate how you view and treat others and make a conscience effort to make better choices and treat one another more kindly.
