Lady’s Choice: Former First Lady Laura Bush’s Personal Appearance

News | December 2, 2010

While she held the position of First Lady, Laura Bush worked to better the lives of children across the country through encouraging arts education, extolling the importance of literacy and more. A mother herself, the issues facing children hit home and even though she’s no longer living on Pennsylvania Avenue, she’s still helping shape the minds of children in America. Orange County will play host to a special appearance from the former First Lady Jan. 10 at the Marconi Automotive Museum.

The event will benefit both Covenant House California and Covenant House International, the largest agencies in the state and country serving homeless and at-risk youth. Priscilla “Bo” Marconi, the first female Chairperson of the Covenant House Board of Directors, will host the event. Through her work leading the organization’s board, Marconi — like Laura Bush herself did while serving as First Lady — oversees programs that help improve the lives and futures of homeless, trafficked and sexually exploited youth in  the United States, Canada and Latin America. In fact, Bush’s influence didn’t just spread across the country, the former First Lady’s daughter, Barbara P. Bush, sits on the Covenant House Board of Directors and is also dedicated to social service causes nation wide.

Guests will have the opportunity to have lunch with both Marconi and Laura Bush, who will also participate in a question and answer session and special personal photo opportunities and ones-on-one meetings. General seating is $500 per guest or $5,000 for a table of ten, and VIP seating is $1,000 per guest, or $10,000 per table of ten and are expected to sell quickly.

The Marconi Automotive Museum is located at 1302 Industrial Dr., in Tustin. For more information on the event and Covenant House, visit their official web site at www.covenanthouse.org. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the Marconi Foundation for Kids at 714.258.3001 or online.
