Haute Art Basel Event: Pamela Masik Performance at Marquis Residences

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, internationally acclaimed artist, Pamela Masik delivered the premier of her live art installation entitled “Awakening” at the Marquis Residences Sky Pool Deck in Downtown Miami. The performance gave guests the opportunity to enter into Masik’s private world that she refers to as “the moment one loses oneself to find oneself.”

The performance is described as A series of disturbing yet alluring gestures and acts involving symbolic objects, Masik exposes a struggle with sexuality, boundaries and the illusions of security from a personal place while locked in the cage.” After the performance, guests were able to enjoy the views overlooking the bay as well a selection of Masik’s unique “Caged Bird” art pieces lined the pool deck.

Guests included Alicia Cervera, Candela Ferro, president of Estefan Enterprises Frank Amadeo, photographer Iran Issa-Khan, the co-owners of The Setai Jonathan and Criselda Breene, Kothan Fernandez, Laura Buccelatti, founder and co-owner of Zuma Rainer Becker, the managing director for-Africa Israel USA Lori Ordover, Rik and Raquel Watters and Sam Robin.

Masik’s “Caged Bird” pop-up Art Basel gallery is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily in the Wynwood Arts District through Dec. 17. Masik held another performance of “Awakening” this afternoon at the Marquis Residences, and will hold her third and final performance, tomorrow, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m.
