I’m With the Band: Band of Outsiders and Dewars® Host Hollywood Dinner

Band of Outsiders has been taking over the casual-chic market, one seersucker blazer at a time.

The line, who grabbed their moniker from the Jean Luc Goddard 1964 film of the same title, boasts a fan club that includes Anne Hathaway and Ryan Reynolds and has shot campaigns with sartorial stars such as Famke Janssen and Kirsten Dunst. The aesthetic of the collection is a decidedly west coast take on shleppy preppy chic. Think perfectly tailored blazers and trenches, luxe button downs and slouchy suiting with a twist on upper crust details. A skirt is fashioned out of suspenders say (see above) or super soft striped renditions of yacht rock’s ubiquitous polo shirt.

So, when the Band decided to host a dinner last week to celebrate their remodeled west coast showroom along with scotch sophisticate Dewars®, Hollywood RSVP’d in the affirmative. Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei was spotted amongst the crowd, as was stylist and former Rachel Zoe employee Brad Goreski, Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation), Kevin McHale (Glee), and David Franco (Scrubs). Notables from L.A.’s literatti were also in the house. Both bad boy author Bret Easton Ellis and Senior West Coast Editor for Vogue, Teen Vogue, Men’s Vogue and Vogue Living Lisa Love were seen on the scene. Love even her brought her lovely model daughter, Laura Love, to the festivities.

Guests sipped Dewars® blended scotch whiskey  and mingled with BoO designer Scott Sternberg, before sitting down to a sumptuous 3 course dinner crafted by Vinny Dotolo and Jon Shook of L.A.’s luxe carnivore magnet Animal. The market fresh menu included a salad to start with avocados, dates, parmesan, feta and pita crisps, then mustard grilled chicken, meatballs and ricotta, fried cauliflower, roasted root vegetables, and butter beans. Snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies were served to satisfy any sweet cravings after the meal along with fresh fruit. Guests left the dinner fabulous and full, with a jar of marmelade, crafted by Kevin West. West, a jam aficianado and former W editor, blended the spread with Valencia oranges, Eureka lemons and Marsh grapefruits, spiked with splash of Dewars® White Label Whiskey.
