On Fire: The Newport Beach Firefighter Fashion Show

The sight of a man in uniform is something that sends most ladies’ hearts a flutter, but at the Newport Beach Firefighter Fashion Show, it was seeing them out of uniform that was the main draw. Partnering with the Glass Slipper Guild, this year’s show benefited the Neuroscience Institute of CHOC and let the audience see the latest fall trends at the same time, making for one hot event.

On Sept. 18, the Glass Slipper Guild, together with Bloomingdale’s Fashion Island and the Newport Beach Fire Department, helped fundraise for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. In addition to the fashion show, which featured 13 of firefighters (men and women) and eight children, a portion of the days sales at Bloomingdale’s were donated to the Glass Slipper Guild in support of the Neuroscience Institute. Having already pledged a $1 million donation earlier this year, events like the Firefighter Fashion Show are just one way for the guilds to support CHOC. Before the fashion show, guild members enjoyed a luncheon and at the fashion show, the firefighters walked the runway before a crowd of over 200 fashion fans and supporters of the Children’s Hospital.

CHOC is dedicated to providing the community’s children with medical care regardless of race, creed or financial security, so events such as this are vital for fundraising. As one of 12 guilds that support CHOC, the Glass Slipper Guild is a group of philanthropic women that work to build community support and awareness for the Neuroscience Institute at CHOC.
