Smyrna Beer Festival 2010

Start the weekend with a good lager! An ice cold beer has been known to produce feelings of euphoria after just one sip, housed inside a cold glass and spilling bubbly foam, a good beer is an old pastime. Atlanta has a fondness for all types of beer, as Saturday September 25 from 1-6 p.m., is the seventh annual Smyrna Beer Festival held at the Smyrna Market Village. Come on out and enjoy a cold one…or a few.

Hosted by Atkins Park Tavern Smyrna, the Smyrna Beer Festival has the distinction of being one of Atlanta’s oldest and most popular beer-related events, with over 4,000 attendees expected at this year’s festival. Hundreds of various beers are on hand for tasting, including local, domestic and imported lager favorites. To get you totally in the festival mood, admission includes a 7 oz. commemorative tasting glass so you won’t go thirsty or miss out on the good stuff. If “all beer, all the time” is not your speed, this year marks the first time that a few specialty wines are offered for tasting as well.

Live entertainment is provided by local band Lethal Rhythms to keep the celebration in full swing. Great food from hometown favorites, Zucca Pizzeria, Moe’s and The Village Café are the perfect companions for a day of constant beer-chugging. All guests must be 21 years of age to enter and no strollers, backpacks or coolers are allowed inside the vicinity. However, it is a dog-friendly event, so feel free to bring your furry friends out for some fun too. Proceeds obtained from the festival benefit The Smyrna Education Foundation and Mustard Seed Communities.  Beer, food and music…sounds like a good Saturday to me. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door.

The Smyrna Beer Festival is located at Smyrna Market Village, 2840 Atlanta Rd. 770.435.1887
